DSM Practice

12 CEU's (both NAADAC and NBCC). Note that this is a 2 day training.
Course Format: Hybrid. Some participants will be attending in person with a small group online via Zoom with Zoom assistant present.

Course Description: Trainees are provided with foundational information (and practice) in evaluating substance use disorders using the DSM Criteria. Trainees will develop an understanding of the need for supervision and consultation related to clinical evaluation practice.

Instructor: James Fitterling, PhD.
Course Description: Trainees are provided with foundational information about the brain-body connection, nervous system procedures, neuroanatomy, neurotransmitter and receptor function, and drug class/medication effects. Exercises will help trainees understand the impact and importance of psychoactive substances (legal and illegal) and how to discuss psychoactive effects with clients.

Course Format: Hybrid. For day 1: Some participants will be attending in person with a small group online via Zoom with Zoom assistant present. Day 2: Zoom all together.

Course Description: Trainees are provided with foundational information about mental health disorders including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, personality disorders, phobic disorders, PTSD, etc. They will develop an understanding of how mental health and substance use disorders can exist in combination and how they affect treatment services.
